Some of my favorite haunts are old churches and cemetaries. This week I have chosen a shot of the sky reflected against the window of the Presbyterian Church in Fincastle, Virginia.The church was formerly worshipped in by the members of the Church of England, this church became Presbyterian shortly after the close of the American Revolution. It was built prior to 1770 on land given to the town of Fincastle by Israel Christian. Originally the structure faced East, it was remodeled about 1840 and again in 1943.

I. LOVE.THIS. PHOTO! The reflection is fabulous on its own, but that you can see inside the church at the bottom really gives is added dimension. A piece of art that should be printed and framed.

Growing up in Alexandria, we attended a church built in the 1700's as well, Christ Church. I think every president attended at least once from George Washington on. Love the history too.

I love this shot. To me it says so much. It's not only that the reflection of the sky is in the window but that you can also see some of the inside of the church through the window. It's almost spiritually symbolic.

This old window looks so beautiful with the reflection of the outside. Reading about this church I think what has this window seen and how many have looked in or out through this historical window. a great interesting and beautiful post.

Great sky reflection! This photo brings back memories for me. My grandfather was a Presbyterian minister in that area in the 20's. One of his churches was Collierstown and I remember Dad talking about Clifton Forge. Thanks for the memories.
