On my way back from photographing the alpaca shearing at a friend’s farm I finally met the local black buzzards face-to-face. I stopped the car, put the zoom lens on the camera and proceeded to walk towards them. I actually got closer than I thought. They were having a late lunch of a road kill deer.

Opportunities Before You

Of course, my husband always comments, that I am easily distracted from the tasks at hand (he does not multi-task) and that I tend to deviate from what I am supposed(his opinion solely) to be doing. Well, last weekend we were mowing...I do the trim mowing around the trees and areas where you can't get into with the riding mower. And while mowing around this particular tree I happened to look a little more closely at the leaves and thought to myself - PHOTO OPPORTUNITY. So...I shut off the push mower and ran inside to grab the camera. I think my distraction was a beautiful capture.

Glimpses of Piazza Navona-Rome, Italy

Piazza Navona

Located just of the Corso Vittorio Emanuele II and a short walk from Largo di Torre Argentina and the end of the #8 tram line, is Piazza Navona. The Piazza is considered by many as Rome's most beautiful Piazza.

The Piazza contains three fountains: the Fontana dei Quattro Fiumi (Fountain of the Four Rivers, 1651) stands in the center, and was designed by Gian Lorenzo Bernini; the Fontana di Nettuno (1574), located at the northern area of the piazza; and the Fontana del Moro (1576), located at the southern end. These two fountains were designed by Giacomo della Porta .

The Fontana dei Quattro Fiumi (Fountain of the Four Rivers, 1651) features the statutes of the four great rivers at the time (1651): the Nile, the Plate, the Ganges and the Danube.

These photographs were taken the last week of February of the Fontana dei Quattro Fiumi. Please click on the photographs to enlarge them.

I get up every morning determined to both change the world and have one hell of a good time. Sometimes this makes planning my day difficult. (E.B. White)

A BIG Thank You to Daryl…

Today I received a lovely card and trivet from Daryl in New York whose blog is: out & about in new york city.

I just love the trivet and it will be used on my computer desk. I have a bad habit of placing hot mugs/cups down on the wood.

Thank you sooo very much Daryl~ It was nice coming home to a prezzie today!

Scenes from the Porta Portese Flea Market-Rome, Italy

We can hop the Number 8 tram if we don't want to walk, and get off right in front of the Flea Market. It is a beautiful morning but, it is brisk even in the sun.
The crowd is already shopping and it is only 9:30. Be careful as there are pickpockets amidst us. They use the bump and run technique or two sandwich you and one distracts you while the other attempts to take your wallet.

I see an old tray...a little too busy for my taste.

Over there is a table filled with silver teapots of all shapes and sizes and I think I also saw some toast caddies...

Here's a lovely patterned china cup...but, I don't need any more china pieces.

More silver in a variety of patterns ...
And even more silver and china to look at.

And, if you want bling over your table, they have that too! There's even sacks and boxes filled with crystals if you want to locate a missing piece or two.

If you find you are short of funds after buying all those goodies, they've got that for sale too!

Lest you work up a little hunger while shopping the aisles, there are food wagons with all kinds of delicious items to fill up on. Yummo.

I always, always make certain that my trip to Rome includes a Sunday so I can walk about the Porta Portese Flea Market which is located about a block and a half from my Aunt's condo and about 4 blocks from my hotel. Over the past ten years the flea market has changed considerably and what I used to love about it has slowly disappeared. It now has more "new" merchandise and not as much in the collectible realm. And, where one could once barter and bargain with sellers, that is not so much any more. But, I did go and I did pick up a few items though, nothing collectible this time.
