20 Worst Supermarket Foods

I just love msn.com and their news blips and stories. Today the story below caught my eye and I know you will enjoy reading about things we shouldn't be consuming. The article deems the TWIX bar as the worst candy bar.

I'm sure it is a favorite of many. Of course here in Virginia where sugar is ingested like water it is probably at the top of the list. Were you aware that 1 package (2 ounces) contains 280 calories, 27 grams of sugars and 14 yes, 14 grams of fat! And 11 of those 14 are saturated fat). That saturated fat content is equivalent to 11 strips of bacon!

Now who among us would consume 11 strips of bacon in a day? Come on, fess up all you bacon eaters out there.

History/Trivia

The TWIX candy bar was first introduced in 1979 and was known as a "Raider" bar in France, Germany and several other European countries until 1991 when Mars decided to standardize its name. The change was not well accepted in countries such as Germany where customers mocked the name change as a transparent attempt to sell more candy bars by simply updating the name. The TWIX candy bar consists of a cookie center topped with carmel and coated with milk chocolate.

I think three slices is my bacon limit when I do eat it, which is infrequently. Solid chocolate, on the other hand, is quite another story.

that is a great story! even in my bacon eating days, I never ever ate 11 strips at once!

I don't think we have it here - so may be we are spared one temptation?

I am glad I have never liked this sort of sweets; just to sickly sweet. An interesting post. I don't think people care whats in it as long as they enjoy it. Otherwise manufacturers would not get away with such rubbish. Junk food is such a big part of peoples eating habits today.

I don't coook 11 strips for my whole family. My bacon trick? I buy the super-thick premium, cut the slices in half... they fry up more evenly and now my family considers half a strip to be a whole one. But I digress...

I can't comment on the sugar issue - my favorite breakfast in high school was a Hostess Apple Pie and a Mt. Dew. Thankfully, a round with Atkins broke me of my sugar habit for good.

Glad to have found you!

It is scary how much fat we eat in all kinds of food. I now baked my food instead of deep frying. I try to eat more vegetables and fruits. At my age, I avoided lots of junk food but sometimes I just cant resist chocolates...lol.

I believe I'd rather eat the bacon. But could you put some chocolate on the slices?

Wow, that's crazy, 11 slices of bacon! I'm a 2 slice bacon girl when I have it.
I also cook my bacon like Cotton Wife, it fries up better, more evenly and looks like more!
Have you ever broiled your bacon? It's good that way too...ok, I know this was originally about the Twix bar but it's breakfast time and now I'm dreaming of bacon,lol..

Good grief! Two pieces of bacon would make me guilt ridden...I have swallowed a Twix whole several times probably...

Oh Erin I'm crushed. They are my fav but equal to 11 strips of bacon? It's a good thing that I'm not a chocolate person or these little treats would be my doom. :) I hope you're doing well!

I just read the article, and bookmarked it. I recognize some of the food I eat on the "eat this instead" list, so that made me feel pretty good. I bookmarked it so I can go back and write some of the other foods on the lists.
