Waning Hours of the Day at Eagle Rock, Virginia

Taken the weekend it was like 10 degrees out and the wind was a howling like mad. I felt my ears numb as well as my face and decided outdoor photography was not a good thing. Thought this a lovely shot of the stark tree limbs and branches against the sky.

Some thoughts to ponder:

The longer I live, the more I realize the impact of attitude on life. Attitude, to me, is more important than facts. It is more important than the past, the education, the money, than circumstances, than failure, than successes, than what other people think or say or do. It is more important than appearance, giftedness or skill. It will make or break a company... a church... a home. The remarkable thing is we have a choice everyday regarding the attitude we will embrace for that day. We cannot change our past... we cannot change the fact that people will act in a certain way. We cannot change the inevitable. The only thing we can do is play on the one string we have, and that is our attitude. I am convinced that life is 10% what happens to me and 90% of how I react to it. And so it is with you... we are in charge of our Attitudes - Charles R. Swindoll  (American Writer and Clergyman, b.1934)

The trees in silhouette against the blue sky make a wonderful photo, Erin. In fact, I also like the telephone poles, marching away into the distance. Your eye is always true. I am also grateful for the quote on Attitude. It's a good thing for me to remember just now.

WONDERFUL capture! The colors and the silhouette are just breathtaking.

I like your words about attitude. I'm dealing with some bad ones at the moment, and you are so right how important it is.

You need to read Jim Merkel's book about the footprint humans leave on Earth and how we can change that not only for ourselves but for the future of others -- including everything from trees to wild animals and fishes in the streams.

I think it should be required reading for all people.

His blog and his book from there if you are interested.

Dear Erin, this photo really looks beautiful with the branches like silhouettes against the blue sky. And I agree with your thoughts about attitude, so very true!
Thank you for your always nice and kind comments on my blog. I do appreciate every visit of yours. In your last comment you asked me about the stairs that you saw in one of my photos. I am pleasantly surprised that you remember the stairs which photos I posted last year. I suppose that you think of the stairs that leads to the top of a hill (not mountain) which are located completely on the other side of the city, about 12 kilometres away from the stairs you saw on the photos that I posted two days ago.
I am glad that you are interested to visit my city. If one day you really come here, please contact me. It would be a great opportunity to meet you in private.
You said that you are going to Italy again. Lucky you!:-) Italy is closer to my country, yet I’ve never been there. Bon voyage my e-mail friend and have a pleasant journey!:-)

Wow, so beautiful! And I agree with you 100 percent, attitude is everything. It can get you through the best of times and the worst of times. Sometimes I have to remind myself but I try to look at life through a 'half-full' glass and am thankful that I have a glass at all.
